BYD Song L DM-i is launched
BYD Song L DM-i was officially launched in Beijing on August 12. The new car has 5 different configurations and models to choose from, with a price range of 135,800-175,800 yuan. It is reported that the sales of the new car exceeded 10,000 units in the first week after its launch on July 25, 10,147 units were sold in July, and mass delivery was achieved as soon as it was launched.
As a new mid-size SUV newly added to the BYD Dynasty Network, Song L DM-i continues the front face design of the Dynasty family and has strong recognition. The chrome decoration on the front face connects the left and right headlights. The lower part is a large-sized center grille with horizontal dot-matrix chrome decoration inside, and there are exaggerated air intake designs on both sides. The side lines of the body are smooth, with hidden door handles and 19-inch low-drag wheels, showing a strong sense of dynamism and power. The tail design incorporates the through-type taillights and segmented spoilers with elements, adding a sense of modernity and fashion.
The interior design of Song L DM-i conveys the concept of minimalism. The interior layout is simple and generous, and the 31-color ambient light runs through the center console, creating a strong technological atmosphere. The three-spoke steering wheel and T-shaped center console design incorporate the “Song” elements. The vehicle is equipped with a rotatable 15.6-inch floating center console screen, LCD instrument panel, HUD head-up display and DiLink smart cockpit, built-in rich apps, and supports 10 speakers with infinity surround sound effects in the car. Song L DM-i has been further upgraded in terms of intelligent driving, supporting adaptive cruise, lane keeping, lever lane change, and automatic parking functions, greatly improving the convenience and safety of driving.
The new car is equipped with BYD’s new DM5.0 plug-in hybrid technology, which consists of a 1.5L engine and an electric motor. The maximum power of the engine is 74kW, the maximum power of the electric motor is 160kW, and it is equipped with lithium iron phosphate blade batteries. It provides three pure electric range options of 75km, 112km, and 160km.
In terms of endurance, the official comprehensive endurance data is 1,500 kilometers, but in previous media tests of Song L DM-i and the new Song PLUS DM-i, the best result can reach 2,000 kilometers+. In addition, as a new model, the new car adopts front McPherson independent suspension and rear four-link independent suspension, equipped with an FSD variable damping shock absorber, ensuring driving comfort and stability.
With its excellent fuel consumption performance and rich intelligent configuration, Song L DM-i can be said to be BYD’s blockbuster in the plug-in hybrid market. With the support of DM5.0, Song L DM-i is expected to set off a trend in the new energy vehicle market in 2024.
