Brilliance BMW officially released the official photos of its mid-size SUV, the new BMW X3 ( parameters | pictures ) long wheelbase version. As a replacement model, the new car has undergone comprehensive innovations in appearance and interior, and for the first time adopted an extended wheelbase design, which is 110 mm longer than the standard wheelbase version, reaching 2975 mm, which is consistent with the standard wheelbase version of the BMW X5. The new car is expected to be officially unveiled at the 2024 Chengdu Auto Show, which will open on August 30.

In terms of appearance, the new car continues the design concept of the overseas version. The front face adopts the split BMW ring-shaped grille for the first time, which is larger, more eye-catching, and more recognizable than the previous generation. The redesigned double L-shaped angel eye headlights adopt an integrated design of high and low beams, and the light source extends outward step by step, further widening the visual width of the front face. The daytime running lights are sharper than the classic ring shape, making the front of the car glow with more modern and vivid vitality.

From the side, the new car adopts a newly designed side profile, with a shoulder line that has a clear upward trend, and with the raised front and rear wheel eyebrows and five-spoke wheel shape, it is full of sportiness. At the same time, the new car’s D-pillar retains the shape and decoration of the Hof’s corner.

The rear part adopts a simple design style. The new feather-shaped taillights are integrated with the rear part. The double L-shaped light strips form a powerful “X” shape. The roof is equipped with a spoiler and the bottom is fitted with a diffuser, which makes the overall appearance dynamic. In addition, the outward-expanded thick wheel arches and wider rear track make the rear part look wider and more powerful.

In terms of size, the new BMW X3 long-wheelbase version has a body length and width of 4865 mm and 1920 mm respectively, which is 110 mm longer than the standard wheelbase version and reaches 2975 mm, which is the same as the BMW X5 standard wheelbase version. The increase in body size has greatly expanded the rear seat space, and the thickness and length of the rear seats have also increased, bringing users a more comfortable and relaxed riding experience.

In terms of interior, the new car adheres to BMW’s design concepts of “explaining complexity with simplicity” and “driver-centric”, and uses “technological magic” to empower intelligent minimalist design. Specifically, it still adopts a dual-screen layout (12.3-inch digital instrument panel + 14.9-inch central touch screen), equipped with BMW’s 9th-generation operating system, supporting Quick Select (quick selection), voice control, and other functions. The surrounding interactive light strip creates a simple, suspended, and technological cockpit atmosphere.

In addition, it is equipped with a panoramic star track skylight, which provides the driver and passengers with a wider view of the sky and a more spacious sense of space. At the same time, the color of the star track skylight can also change according to different driving theme modes (My Modes), creating a refined and luxurious atmosphere and an impressive luxury experience.

Regarding power, the new car has not yet completed the declaration with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It is expected to use the power of the current model. For reference, the current BMW X3 is equipped with a 2.0T turbocharged engine as standard. Depending on the tuning, the maximum power is 184 horsepower (corresponding to xDrive25i) and 245 horsepower (xDrive30i). In terms of transmission, it is matched with an 8-speed manual transmission.
